Bear Appetit Cafe in Jim tdorpe

I got a burger and I asked for medium but it was well done and like dog food. It was very burnt and smelt bad. My mom ordered a burger well done and she cut it open and saw it was rare. The waitress took forever, but was very nice and generous to take both burgers off the bill. The chicken noodle soup was very good and so was the onion soup.🍔=👎🥣=👍

Food was good. Ate here for breakfast, and stopped for ice cream on another day. Help was a little overwhelmed by a packed house on a weekend. Would eat here again when it's not crowded.

Find some place else for ice cream. Only ice cream place I’ve been too where they won’t give you 2 flavors in a small because that would be 2 scoops and a medium. Every other ice cream shop will give you a half scoop of two different flavors. On top of that they charge $1 for card transactions under $10, a blatant rip off when they are using square and getting charged $0.10 for the transaction.

Fast service. Ok price. Need to work on the atmosphere in the seating area.Good and afordable breakfas....

You can go anywhere for food.But if you want fantastic customer service they are absolutely perfect.And the food is excellent.

The staff was wonderful, Restaurant was clean, very nice location with view of Broadway. But the food was hit and miss. Hubby said his Ruben sandwich and fries were very good but my meatloaf left a lot to be desired as it was lukewarm and drowned in marinara sauce.

Went in on a whim. Wasn’t expecting to be wowed. The food was incredible. My crab cake was delicious. One of the best I’ve ever had. My husband had the brisket. The portion was huge and the meat was tender and very tasty. Prices were reasonable. We will definitely go again

Great food and service.

What a fun place. Very mom and pop. We came in for breakfast after having an “eh” meal at the Inn the morning before and it was such an improvement. If you’re staying at the Inn, walk across the street for breakfast. Shannon, our waitress, was a ton of fun! We had lunch here as well eventually, also awesome.

This place is not one I'd recommend. We waited a long time to be seated, for our waitress, and for our food. I asked for the soup not to have a crouton in it due to gluten sensitivities, but when the soup came, there was the crouton! I discovered it AFTER I began eating it. I asked for a well done burger without the bun, which it appeared delicious. As I cut into it, it was blood raw. It looked like dog food after I began cutting it more...very poor quality meat. My son's was disgusting as well. He did enjoy his soup. We also waited for napkins as we had none from the beginning...no silver ware either. The waitress was really nice, and did take the burgers off our bill, which I was grateful for. I am just saying do not waste your time going here. It's more stressful than relaxing, especially after losing your appetite.

The food was delicious. I went there to go and get breakfast with my friend and it was delicious! My scrambled eggs looked amazing and were cooked greatly. The bacon was also nice a crispy and we both loved it. My friend had the french toast and it was very well made. We absolutely loved the staff as they were nice and the service was quick and fast. All of our food came out quick and hot. If you are in Jim Thorpe I recommend coming here. It feels super cozy and the service is amazing. It may not be the most classy, but it was the best food I've ever eaten.

We stopped here to grab a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised by the great service and delicious food. I had the French onion soup and the buffalo chicken wrap with french fries, my husband had the bacon wrapped steak, red potatoes and vegetables. We really enjoyed the food and our waitress was super sweet! I attach the menu pictures here so you can see all the delicious food they have.

Had the grilled salmon salad AWE MAN SO GOOD! And so are the fresh juices we got the lemonade and the tamarindo it was soo good i bought 2 i finished the first one before i got my food lol would recommend this place.

BEST PLACE EVER! I had the best time I went with my service dog and they were so understanding they let me sit in the back which is huge and they even have my dog FREE WATER! They made me feel so relaxed and comfortable which is rare for me in restaurants but they deserve my 5 stars! The food was delicious and cook very well 100% would go there again!

We got a few sandwiches here and were very dissatisfied. Bacon was old, cold, dry and chewy and sandwiches were not made as the menu described. Food was not fresh. I took two bites and realized I did not want to pay for the item they served me. They refused a refund for the food which was not eaten. I will not visit this place again on our trips to Jim Thorpe and urge you to consider any of the other quality local food joints.

Great food, service, and ice cream. The Bork Pork sub and homemade fries were delicious. Had a Graham Slam ice cream cone for dessert.

The food was disgusting. I've never sent food back to a kitchen and not paid for it. I don't recommend eating here.

The atmosphere is a little peculiar but I had an Asian salad and it came with the best tasting ginger dressing i’ve ever had!

100% reccomend. More places need to do feed the homeless for free like this place does.

One of the best restaurants in the area. Quick service. Great variety in their menus.

First, it took 45+ minutes to get our food. Secondly, when served the food we got NO silverware. Thirdly, the food that we did get was HORRENDOUS. My mom got an eggplant wrap which looked and tasted a week old. I got an order of mozzarella sticks (which is my FAVORITE appetizer) and they tasted like cheese wrapped in cardboard. Even my 6 year old daughter complained that her Mac and Cheese “tasted funny” and wouldn’t finish it. Lastly, after eating such a sickening meal, the bill was way too high!! I will never eat here again and will strongly suggest against it to anyone else.

They jammed too many tables into the small space, it was waaaaaay over crowded to the point that you couldn't get around tables to get to your seat. Gotta wonder what the Fire Marshall would have to say about that. Service was slow, which I expected because of how jammed it was, but we got no silverware or napkins, had to ask twice! The food was ok but overpriced. Keep walking down the street there are many more places to eat!

With a cute name like "Bear Appetite" me and my wife couldn't resist not going in and trying it out, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is comfy and homey, I really love it here.

Service was okay, but 2 of the 3 meals we got we're not what was expected. I had the crab cakes, which was supposed to have a pepper sauce, but came with none, and my mothers meatlof was Only mediocre topped with tomato paste. The crabcakes and the chesesteak were delicious, however, so it wasnt a terrible experience.

The food Is good they have the best food.

In my opinion this is the best breakfast for the money in the town of Jim Thorpe Pa. The coffee flows and breakfast came out piping hot and the atmosphere spot on.

nice little place. we grabbed a window seat. waitress was vet friendly and we felt right at home. Food taste good.

Staff members were polite and especially my visit right after a couple of days that I've didn't get to eat such delicious food. The sandwich was stuffed with sliced sausages and mixed with cheese, it was just 10/10. Loved it and I won't hesitate to pay it another visit anytime sooner.

If I could give less than one star, I certainly would because we didn't ever get to try this place! This place is suppose to close at 10pm, however my husband and I walk in a little before 8:30 and were told that the kitchen is shut down! I've been in the restaurant business and never closed our kitchen that from closing time unless it was a holiday and it certainly wasn't! This is just horrible business! I wish I could leave a review that was good or based on the quality of the food!

Cute decor outside and inside that made us choose this location for lunch. We had some sandwich ( Reuben and pulled brisket) for lunch which where really tasty. For the little one we choose Mac and Cheese those didn’t taste good at all.The Server was really nice and made us feel comfortable.I used the restroom and the first one was so dirty that I looked for the second one which was ok. All over this place needs some cleaning but food and price are ok ... 3 stars

Service not great at all. Seated in the way back behind the column, pretty sure we were forgotten about. Kids meals took 30+ mins and the cheese wasnt even melted on the grilled cheese. By the way, the potato soup had no potatoes.

Food was tasty and they had some interesting ice cream flavors! Service was very friendly. I recommend the "Gran Slam" shake.

Salsa should not have been served as it was too old; pierogis were freezer burned and like card board-waitress told us they were Mr. T’s-didn’t eat them and when we told the waitress-they weren’t taken off then bill. French fries were not cooked all the way through. Really a very big disappointment. Would never go back.

The food was ok! The home fries need some work. Other then the food very nice people and great hospitality.

Very poor service. I would not even give a star to this place. When we asked to be seated to certain table we were told that this is impossible because they try to keep tables in order. We were wait too long for our breakfast. After 40 min we received our food but we didn't have cutlery to eat. In addition, my husband's order came wrong, so it was taken back. Our waiter even didn't come to apologize for inconvenience. When my husband came to him, he just said "I told you that you will need to wait". We were so upset with the service, so we just left. However, we left money on the table.

Quaint eatery, friendly service and delicious home-cooked food. The cotton-candy flavoured ice cream is especially yummy!

Out-classed by a few of the newer places in town but not a bad place for breakfast or lunch. If you go in thinking Diner you will not be disappointed.

The food was decent but the service was horrible. The waitress brought out the wrong drink (which I let slide and didn't say anything, it was kind of loud and busy) and she also forgot about our table when it came to the check. We had to ask twice for it. Won't be visiting again.

Had a fantastic time! The waiter was very kind and energetic! The food was incredible! My salad was huge and my boyfriend’s burger was a great size too! The wait time for everything was super quick. Would recommend! Not sure why there is a lot of 1 stars, this place is amazing!

We've been coming to Jim Thorpe for many years. We always try to stop in for a bite to eat at Bear Appetite. We've eaten everything from breakfast to dinner to take out and have never been disappointed.

I tried their pasta and it’s really good! Might be a little salty though.

Have eaten here twice in my life. Was okay. Third time, showed up with a latte and was asked to leave. I was ready to order breakfast for myself and my wife, but I guess because I had coffee from elsewhere my money isn’t welcome there. Went somewhere else and won’t be going back.
